Recently, we received a remarkable update that has us beaming with pride. Susan King, a cherished client, reached out to share a beautiful success story that began all the way back in 1974..
Susan and Bob King’s journey began “computer dating” back in 1974 and were connected through Dateline. As Susan reminisced, “In those days, it was a list of questions about your age, hobbies, profession, and the type of person you would like to meet.” It was a different era, long before the convenience of today’s mobile phones.
Susan received numerous letters from potential suitors. But it was her letter to Robert, who lived in Slough, that sparked something special. They arranged to meet at Victoria Station for their first date in April 1974. “It wasn’t exactly love at first sight, but we kept meeting,” Susan shared. This perseverance and mutual interest laid the foundation for their enduring relationship.
After a few months, their courtship saw Susan moving from the East End of London to Slough to be closer to Robert. “Robert, or Bob as I call him, used to drive all the way from Slough to the East End to visit me,” she said. Susan found a new job in Slough, marking a new chapter in their lives together and they got engaged before being married in July 1975.
Fast forward nearly five decades, and Susan and Bob are now proud parents and grandparents. “We now have three daughters, three sons-in-law, and five grandchildren who make us incredibly proud,” Susan shared joyfully. Next year, they will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, a milestone that underscores the strength and longevity of their relationship.
Susan’s story is a proof of the enduring power of love and the importance of taking a chance on finding that special someone. From their first date at Victoria Station to nearly 50 years of marriage, Susan and Bob’s journey is one filled with joy, family, and countless memories.
